Lavender Essential Oil Aromatherapy Candle

lavender1Lavender Essential Oil is one of the most versatile of all essential oils.  Lavender is known for its calming and healing benefits.  Some of which includes uses as a sedative, antiseptic, antibiotic, antiviral and anti fungal.  It can treat burns, abrasions, coughs, colds, flue, stress, nausea, ulcers, acne, asthma, and insect bites.

I personally love this candle due to the smell.  This candle is 2.5 by 5 inches.  It will also burn for approximately 75 hours.  I would strongly recommend letting it burn for a couple of hours, at least, on the first lighting.  As always, you should use a candle snuffer to blow it out.  This is due to two very important reasons; one, its safer so you do not blow hot ashes and two, you will keep the wick straight!  Enjoy.

braveheart

A little over one year ago, my mother passed away.  As with any death, it is a very difficult time in your life.

One of my saviors was Brave Heart Therapuetic Oil.  This oil was created for the 9/11/01 tragedy.  It helps heal the heart and face the pain so the healing process can begin.  I simply placed a couple drops on my pulse points and breathe in the aroma, slowly.

energy

People are always complaining about lacking energy. Many times, it’s easy to turn to energy drinks, soft drinks, coffee, or candy in order to obtain a quick fix. Most people don’t know that the simple act of using citrus-based essential oils can help lift energy and improve mental focus. Essential oils from citrus fruits such as grapefruit, oranges and tangerines have properties that naturally elevate mood and energy. The energetic frequency of citrus blend aromas stimulates energy to: improve mental concentration on tedious tasks, improves emotional mood state and increases states of wakefulness and physical vibrancy.

There are many ways one can enjoy citrus aromas. Scented oils can be used in candles or applied directly to the body. A simple way to enjoy the natural lift of citrus is to place a tissue in your car that has been saturated with essential oils. Thus you will be invigorated all throughout the day while driving.

roses1Who doesn’t love the smell of roses?  If you do not like the smell, please comment on this blog, I’d love to know your opinion why….

I now make my own hand and body lotion with Rose Essential Oils.  All you need to do is buy some unscented, organic hand and body lotion, mix one ounce with three to four drops of Rose Essential Oils and voila! you’ve made you own hand and body lotion!  There is no better feeling than massaging this into your skin when you know it’s pure, you made it yourself, and it smells fabulous!

lemongrass

The botanical name for Lemongrass Essential Oil  is Cymbopogon citratus.  It has a strong lemony smell.

Lemongrass Essential Oil is my favorite of all essential oils because of its fantastic aroma.  I make my own shower gel using Lemongrass Essential Oil.  I simply mix a few drops of the oil with an ounce of unscented organic shower gel!  I love the smell of it!  The best part?  After you shower, the bathroom smells absolutely wonderful.

tea_treeMaking your own shampoo is not only a fun and intersting hobby, it is also so much better for you than store bought shampoos.

Do you know how many chemicals are in the shampoos that you buy in the store?  Some of the ingredients are actually cleaning chemicals!  Why would we put this on our hair?  I make my own, all you need to do is purchase some unscented shampoo and then mix it with the essential oil of your choice.  I like Tea Tree Essential Oil because I often have a very itchy scalp, especially after I get my hair colored.  Using Tea Tree Essential Oil is great at relieving my itchy scalp.

patchoulbPatchouli Essential Oil has a wonderful earthy smell.  It’s healing properties have been known to aid in depression, stress and anxiety.

People have also used Patchouli as an aphrodisiac.  I personally love patchouli essential oil mixed with an unscented body lotion as it helps with dry, cracked skin.

Diffusing Essential Oils Alleviates Congestion

novababygreenI’ve had a head cold the past few days and I woke up this morning very congested.  Feeling congested just makes you feel so tired and you have no energy.

I took my trusty book, “Aromatherapy, A Complete Guide To The Healing Art” written by Kathi Keville and Mindy Green and looked up congestion.  The book has a great recipe to make your own nasal inhalant.  Take two drops of eucalyptus and rosemary and one drop of peppermint essential oils to one tablespoon of rock salt.  I personally didn’t have any rock salt, therefore, I put the combination of oils into my diffuser and placed it on my desk.  I’m already feeling better.

lemonHave you ever cooked a meal with lots of garlic and onion?  During cooking you most likely put the skins of the garlic and onion in your garbage disposal.  These smells are so hard to get rid of.

What I do is freshen up my garbage disposal.  I simply take a few drop of both Lemon and Orange Essential Oils, add some water and mix it up.  I pour the mixture around the sink and into the drain.  Then I put on the water and turn on the garbage disposal.  Then I use the sprayer on the sink and move all of the mixture into the drain and let it run for about one minute.  It leaves such a fresh and clean aroma in your kitchen!orange

Natural Skin Care

geraniumOur skin that covers our body is a very sensitive organ.  It will respond to how we live or lives, what we eat and our emotional state of being.  If you are stressed your skin may be very dry.  If you are under severe emotional distress, such as the recent loss of a loved one, your skin may become very dehydrated.

Aromatherapy, with other treatments such as exfoliation can treat skin problems and keep you looking young.  Regular cleansing of the skin will replenish the nutrients you may have lost.  After washing with a natural soap, tone your face with a pure floral water.  Chamomile Essential Oil is great for greasy skin.  However, if you have sensitive skin, try using Rose Essential Oil.  Lavender is also great for healing of the skin.  Geranium Essential Oil is great for all skin types.  It balances the sebum, keeping your skin supple.
